Metropolitan Transport is a growing independent operator specialising in high-capacity passenger transport across London and the South East.
We don't do standard, repetitive bus routes. We offer a highly varied operational diary, and we are looking for reliable, professional, and adaptable casual PCV drivers to join our pool and help us deliver exceptional service across our diverse client base.
As a casual driver, you will have the flexibility to pick up shifts that suit your schedule. This is an ideal role for experienced drivers looking for supplementary income, weekend work, or a dynamic driving environment away from the standard monotony.
Depending on the shifts you choose, your duties will span across our five core operational areas:
- Rail Replacement: Executing emergency or planned rail replacement services for major transport brokers.
- Film & Television Work: Operating vehicles on active production sets for music videos, TV commercials, and brand campaigns (our fleet has previously featured in shoots for major brands, including PlayStation).
- "Buses & Beer": Driving tailored private hire charters stopping at historical and interesting pubs.
- Private Hire & Events: Providing premium transport for weddings, corporate events, and large group bookings.
- Sightseeing Tours: Executing planned tourist and sightseeing routes across London and the South East.
Standard Duties:
- Conducting thorough pre-use and post-use vehicle daily defect checks.
- Providing a high standard of customer service, ensuring passenger safety and comfort at all times.
- Complying fully with UK and EU Drivers' Hours, working time directives, and tachograph regulations.
- Licensing: A valid UK PCV Driving Licence (Category D) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Certification: A valid Driver Qualification Card (CPC) and Digital Tachograph Card.
- Experience: Previous experience driving double-decker buses in London and the South East is highly desirable.
- Skills: A calm, professional demeanor, especially when navigating complex routes, handling emergency rail disruptions, or working alongside production crews on film sets.
- Flexibility: Choose the shifts and jobs that fit around your existing commitments.
- Variety: Escape the monotony of the same daily route. One shift might be a rail replacement, and the next might be a commercial filming shoot.
- Support: You will be working directly with the business owners who understand the realities of operational driving and rail environments.
